Part Of The National Project For Urban Renovation

Construction of an elementary school and kindergarten, with a kitchen and cafeteria.

As part of the National Urban Renewal Project (NERP), this building, designed according to the standards of High Environmental Quality (HQE), will be the first low energy consumption building (BBC) the neighborhood of Clou-Bouchet, Niort. The elementary school, the school cafeteria and the extension of the kindergarten will be covered with a green roof of about 2200 m2.

The construction takes place in an occupied site (with about 230 students), which requires a "drawer operation." Thus, in January 2012, the kindergarten school students will temporarily move into the new elementary school, while their schoolmates of the elementary class remain in their current premises. By the end of 2012, they will reintegrate the renovated kindergarten facilities, leaving room for the elementary  students who will then take possession of their new school.

The construction will continue with the building the forecourt, the entrance hall and the demolition of the old buildings including the prior elementary school and school restaurant. The new Jean-Zay school complex will be entirely completed in March 2013.
